No matter what paint protection film installer
you talk to, there are several questions you
should always ask:
- Are you certified? If so, what is
your license number?
- Do you have references I can contact? Request
at least three.
- How long have you personally been installing
paint protection film? The company they work for
may have been around a while, but they may be a
brand new installer. And just because someone
else in the company is certified does not mean
the person you're talking to is certified. If
anyone claims to be a 3M installer, request
their license number or contact 3M to verify
their status.
- Do you offer a warranty in writing? Ask to
see it.
- What kind of film do you use? There are
several brands of paint protection film on the
market. Not all film brands have the same
qualities or require the same installation
techniques.
3M is the only film on the market with a clear
coat on top of the vinyl layer, allowing you to
buff scratches and blemishes from the film. All
other paint protection film does not have a
clear coat, meaning you risk scratching the
vinyl itself and it cannot be fixed by buffing
or waxing. Also, film that doesn't have a
clear-coat will dull over time.
