Who installs the kits?
Protective Film Solutions uses only
3M-certified, professional installers who have
received intensive, specialized training.
Can I install it myself?
We and 3M recommend professional installation to
ensure proper coverage and a secure fit because
each car has unique (and sometimes challenging)
installation areas.

How do I care for the film?
Wash and wax your vehicle as you normally would,
making sure not to use any abrasive materials. If your film has scratches, follow one of two
solutions:
- Remove them by using a cleaner wax (not
rubbing compound) and a soft cloth. Once the
scratch is removed, you may use a carnauba-based
wax to restore the glossy finish.
- If you are familiar with the use of an orbital
buffer, you may use a soft wool pad at less than
2000 RPM and use light pressure. If using an
orbital buffer, we recommend using SRC Finishing
Compound by 3M with it as
it removes scratches the best. Then apply
carnauba-based wax.
How do I remove wax build-up along the edge of
the film?
You have two options:
- You may use a soft-bristled toothbrush (a
children's toothbrush works great) and move it
very gently back and forth along the edge to
remove the build-up.
- If that does not work, try using a Q-tip or
soft microfiber towel dipped in rubbing alcohol.
Dab it along the build-up, letting the alcohol
soak on the wax build-up.
Remove the loosened build-up with a dry cloth. DO NOT USE YOUR FINGERNAIL OR ANY SIMILAR OBJECT
AS YOU WILL SCRATCH YOUR PAINT.
Does it come off?
Yes, it does, but not by itself.
Does the paint peel off when you remove it?
We guarantee that only factory paint jobs will
not peel off when removing the film. Repainted
vehicles must cure for 30 days before it is safe
to install the film. If any touchups or
partially cured paint are covered with the film,
paint may come off when it is removed. Talk to
your certified installer about this.
Is the film reusable?
No.
What are the little yellow-orange stains that I
see on my film?
These are bee stains. Yes, it is normal. No, it
is not permanent. The sun will bleach out the
stains over a few days. The more your car is in
the sun, the quicker they will fade away. If you
would like to speed up the process, dip a cotton
ball in bleach and dab the stains repeatedly
until they disappear (usually a few seconds).
I notice foggy "bubbles" in the film after it
was installed recently. Why?
This is natural. The "bubbles" are actually
pockets of alcohol solution that will evaporate
if the vehicle is left out in the sun. DO NOT
play with or press on the bubbles because this
may stretch out the film, resulting in excess
film that looks like loose skin when the alcohol
does evaporatethis will not go away.
If the bubbles do not go away in 2-3 weeks, they
will need to be popped. Please call us to
schedule an appointment. Do not pop them
yourself.

I got the film installed at a local car
dealership. How do I know if it was installed by
Protective Film Solutions?
If your paint protection film was installed by a
certified installer for PFS, you should have
received the
3M warranty card in
your vehicle that lists Protective Film
Solutions' contact information and certification
license number. If you expected PFS to install
the paint protection film and you don't receive
the card, contact us at 602.694.6979. Be sure to have your VIN number handy so
we can verify our records.
You may also view our Film Warranty Information here for more detail about how PFS warranties its work, whether PFS installed your film at a dealership or elsewhere.
