Some embellish or manipulate performance numbers to make it look like their film blocks more infrared heat than they do. Some will tell you their film doesn't turn purple (most do). Some will throw around "nanotechnology" and "ceramic" terms to describe their films when in fact the film you're buying doesn't use that technology or material at all (it's a bait-and-switch thing). Some will tell you that the dark tint you like so much is legal (in most cases, it isn't). Some even go so far as to put their tint through scratch tests using steel wool pads that no one in their right mind would ever use on tint in the first place. That "test" does nothing to prove that the tint keeps you from melting in the sun.
