3M Window Tint vs. competitors
Plenty of tinters (manufacturers and distributors alike) make grandiose claims about the superiority of their product.

Some embellish or manipulate performance numbers to make it look like their film blocks more infrared heat than they do. Some will tell you their film doesn't turn purple (most do). Some will throw around "nanotechnology" and "ceramic" terms to describe their films when in fact the film you're buying doesn't use that technology or material at all (it's a bait-and-switch thing). Some will tell you that the dark tint you like so much is legal (in most cases, it isn't). Some even go so far as to put their tint through scratch tests using steel wool pads that no one in their right mind would ever use on tint in the first place. That "test" does nothing to prove that the tint keeps you from melting in the sun.

Ask tinters to provide real world proof that their tint does what they claim. But who can honestly back up their claims with facts and proof? Protective Film Solutions can show you that 3M window films are the best. We'll prove to you that 3M window films really do block an amazing amount of heat. We'll show the reduced glare. We'll show the different levels of tint you can select. Here are other reasons we use only 3M:

  • 3M has 100+ years of reliability and innovation. That's a reason so many people choose 3M over competitors ... it is a brand they trust that has remained strong through uncertain economic times.

  • In a head-to-head comparison, 3M Window Films perform as well as or better than comparable competitive films.

  • 3M holds the original patent on window tint technology (U.S. Patent No. 3290203) from 1966. Since then, 3M has invested millions of dollars in research and development of the most advanced window films. In fact, 3M is the only manufacturer that makes its own film materials, including polyesters, adhesives and scratch-resistant coatings, to ensure product quality and consistency.

  • 3M Window Films come with a lifetime residential warranty (up to 15 years for commercial applications) that is fully backed by the financial strength of the 3M Company. Unlike some competitive brands whose warranties are backed by financially weak companies that might not be around tomorrow – especially in these troubled times – you can trust that the 3M, and its warranty, will be there.

  • 3M Window Films are made in the USA.

NOTE: Make sure that the film you're paying for is the one that's being installed. Unfortunately, some less-than-honest tinters will quote you a price for a premium film that you want, but then will use the cheapest film they have so they can bank the profits.

ANOTHER NOTE: If you're expecting 3M film, ask for the 3M warranty card with all the information completed on it. And only those who legitimately buy and install the film get the warranty cards to distribute to customers. You can also ask them not to remove the 3M "watermark" on the automotive window tint to prove it's 3M (the watermark washes off easily).
